  1. IMG Podcast Classic Online!

    January 5, 2012 by BLAKEBUCK

October 2005. Guitar Hero was a bizarre new peripheral game.  All Mac’s ran on PowerPC.  Ronald Reagan was president.

Blake Buck and William Miller were 19 years old.  Justin Fic was a plucky coder with a bizarre obsession for cartoon violence.  And Tuncer Deniz was simply the respected owner of the world’s largest Mac gaming website – long before making his millions smuggling copies of James Bond 007 Nightfire into the middle east.

Together they created the internet sensation known as the Inside Mac Games Podcast.  A podcast about the latest news in Mac gaming.  Released once a week.  In 2005.  Alright so maybe it was doomed for failure from the start.  But it was the seed from which Best Damn Podcast Ever, Big Hot Sho, and many other projects grew.

After finding  a long lost zip file on Justin Fic’s old hard drive, we now present you with the entire “classic” season of the IMG Podcast.  These shows had been lost after the gang’s departure from IMG, but have now been digitally remastered and restored.  And by that I mean, I copied them to a folder.

We post these here with no disrespect to IMG or it’s sucessor show hosted by longtime fan Mike Yaroshinsky.  We simply wanted to archive the old show online since some people have been asking for it.

You can listen here on BlakeBuck.com or subscribe via the feeds below.

  2. BHS Oxford Episode 10

    October 10, 2011 by BLAKEBUCK

Everything that has a beginning inevitably must have an end.  And it just so happens that this show ends at the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City – 1,126 miles from Oxford Mississippi.  Because of Blake’s move to NYC, this episode (recorded just a few days before his departure) means the current Big Hot Sho podcast will more or less come to an end.

This episode in particular ends on a more somber note, as Blake, Ben, and GirlBlake reflect on their time together, their dreams for the future, and their beliefs on religion and life itself.  But don’t worry, there are still plenty of dick jokes to around.

And while the future of Big Hot Sho remains a mystery for now, I can tell you this much:  It’s gonna be awesome.

  3. BDPE Episode 96

    October 10, 2011 by BLAKEBUCK

This week’s episode is a blast from the past, as Buck and Fic reminisce of Steve Jobs, uDevGames, and our days many years ago at InsideMacGames.com.  Though there’s no Miller this week, with Buck now living in New York with Fic, this show quickly devolves into some wild tangents and ends up over 2 hours long!

Miller and Fic also have entered games into this years uDevGames competition, which is happening this week!  To download Fic’s Kung Fu Killforce or Miller’s Flying Sweden, head over to uDevGames.com. And make sure to vote for both before the contest ends this Thursday!

  4. BDPE Episode 95

    September 19, 2011 by BLAKEBUCK

Only five episodes until episode 100!  What does that mean?  Well none of us are entirely sure at the moment, but we’ll think of something.  Either that or just do whatever you guys suggest in the forums.  Honestly, we’re awful at this whole, “preparing” thing.  So enjoy episode 95 while we prepare 96 for a few more months.

Also on this week show, we discuss Sony’s Vita and new tablets, the merits of in-game advertising, and question the role of civilian violence in war games.

  5. BDPE Episode 94

    September 7, 2011 by BLAKEBUCK

“Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night stays these courageous couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds” – Some dude.  Who was not at all referencing the lackluster speed at which these episodes are often posted.

Also on this week’s show, the hosts are noticably less drunk, Blake goes off on a long tangent about Atari Pinball, and Justin Fic reminisces of dressing up as a pirate and accosting evangelical Christians and babies.

News: Steve Jobs Steps Down from Apple, Halo CE Anniversary to be 3D Compatible, Deux Ex Human Revolution and OnLive Snubbed by Gamestop, Mortal Kombat Collection coming to XBLA and PSN, and More Developer Trashtalking over Vita and 3DS.

  6. BDPE Episode 93

    August 25, 2011 by BLAKEBUCK

In the videogames industry, lawsuits happen.  In fact, they happen a lot.  If only there was some way to sort through all the legal documents and bureaucracy.  But perhaps Minecraft designer Notch has the best idea yet for settling legal battles: Quake 3 Deathmath.

Also on this week’s show, we discuss emulators and the importance of accuracy in game preservation, William refuses to read news, and Sudosushi promises to set up our store by next week.  Totally.

  7. BDPE Episode 92

    August 20, 2011 by BLAKEBUCK

Game designer.  Podcaster.  Fashionista.  Handsome be-deviler.  These are all words that have been used to describe William Miller.  But perhaps none are more fitting then the moniker he received from a listener many years ago – “The Silent Glue

Sure, Miller may not have the obscene depravity of Justin Fic, nor the drunken esoteric ramblings of Blake Buck.  And indeed, sometimes he is simply coding and not paying attention to the show at all. But without him, BDPE lacks a certain zest.  Or maybe it’s just your heartburn.

  8. BDPE Episode 91

    August 14, 2011 by BLAKEBUCK

On this week’s show, we interview Mike Ambrogi of Final Form Games, the developer behind the indie sensation Jamestown.  Topics of discussion include the history of Final Form Games, the team’s design process, Jamestown’s marketing and distribution, and address the rumors of a release on a new platform.

We had so much fun chatting it up with Mike, the interview ran twice as long as expected.  And afterwards, we still had to do the rest of the show – so this week’s episode is a monster, weighing in at almost two hours!  Hopefully you can still fit all 110 megs of it on you Samsung Yepp.

News: New Scribblenauts Rumors, Call of Duty Black Ops Runs Out of Ideas – Puts Zombies on Moon, Microsoft Pushing Kinect on XBLA, Diablo III Shipping This Year?, Mincraft Convention Announced, Borderlands 2 Announced

Tapes: From Dust (XBLA), Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet (XBLA), Zookeeper (Arcade) – Can you beat this heat?

  9. BHS Oxford Episode 9

    August 5, 2011 by BLAKEBUCK

Our more mathematically astute listeners may have noticed it’s been over five weeks since the posting of our last show. But let me also remind you that math is for nerds isn’t helping you get laid. Take it from Blake, he’s and expert in not getting laid. However, perhaps some apologies are in order, and on this week’s show we do just that.

Since Blake has moved out of Oxford, shows won’t be posting as often – at the moment we’re shooting for every other week. But if it’s any consolation, this show is almost twice as long as usual! Ben and Girlblake are back, as well as that perfectly balanced ratio of literary references to dick jokes that a growing mind needs.

    On this week’s episode:

    Cutting your Hair, Everywhere

    Big Hot Apologies

Cultural Acceptance + The South = Comedy

    The Nelson Mandela Test

  10. BDPE Episode 90

    August 5, 2011 by BLAKEBUCK

Sometimes, things go missing.  Your keys, your pet frog, your virginity at that 98 Degrees concert. Or in case of former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi, 300 million dollars in stock. Luckily, Nintendo has a trick up it’s sleeve – a wily yet cantankerous crimefigther by the name of Mauchilock.

Though he may look docile, he has the heart of a samurai. On his desk. And if you gamer sissies give him any lip, he’ll boot your company from his platform for the next decade.

Also on this week’s show, we discuss the role of non-video gaming, Blake gets bitten by spiders, and Justin Fic gives us some details on his new game, Kung Fu Killforce.  If you want a sneak peak, be sure to check it out in the forums.

News: Nintendo Drastically Cuts 3DS to $170, Iwata an other Nintendo Execs take Paycuts, Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D Ships 4 Million Units, Ubisoft Claims DRM is Effective, Evo 2011 in Las Vegas, and Sony Ships a Surprising Number of Units Last Quarter.
